Main Street Deserves a Real Website. The First One Is Free.

Main Street Deserves a Real Website. The First One Is Free.

I build a lot of software. Some of it runs quietly behind other companies, some of it has my name on it, and I am proud of most of it. But every so often I make something I just want to hand to people and say: go try it, it is free, see for yourself. Mainfolk is that one.

Mainfolk is a website builder. If you have ever used Wix or Squarespace, you already know the shape of it. I built Mainfolk because I wanted the same idea done better, and done specifically for the folks those tools tend to overwhelm: Main Street businesses, and the civic offices that keep a town running.

Most places do not need fancy. They need working.

Here is what I noticed after years of building sites for people. The big builders hand everyone the same maximalist toolbox: an online store, membership gates, booking engines, marketing funnels, a hundred settings, and most businesses will never open ninety percent of it. That is stuff you pay for in money, in confusion, and in a site that ends up heavier and slower than the simple thing you actually wanted.

Your city hall does not need fancy. It needs fast, secure, and simple to keep current. Same for the diner, the plumber, the accountant, the church on the corner, the fire district. What these places actually need is a short list: a site that loads instantly, that cannot get hacked, that Google and the new AI assistants can find, that gets backed up without anyone thinking about it, and that they can update themselves without calling a web guy. That list is the whole job. Everything past it is overhead someone talked them into.

Exactly what your site needs. Nothing it does not.

So that became the whole design goal: give every site exactly what it needs, and leave out what it does not. Mainfolk is built out of drag-and-drop blocks. Need a menu, a staff roster, an events list, a documents section for agendas and minutes, a photo gallery, a contact form? Drop it in. Do not need an online store? You never have to look at one. Your site ends up being precisely the site you needed, not a stripped-down copy of someone else's template.

Under the hood, the unglamorous parts that actually protect a business are handled for you: real security, automatic backups, SEO built in from the first page, and clean, fast hosting on a global network. I could write ten paragraphs about how all of that works. I would rather you just go build a site and feel how quick it is.

Or let the AI build the whole thing for you.

Here is the part people do not expect. You do not have to build it yourself at all. Describe your business in a sentence or two and the AI writes the copy, designs the layout, picks the colors and the fonts, and lays out every page. It hands you a finished, professional, multi-page site, not a blank canvas you have to figure out.

This is not do-it-yourself with extra steps. It is designed to be right straight out of the gate. And then, if you want to change something, you can change everything, in plain language, from your phone or your laptop. Click a headline, type the new words. Swap a photo. No jargon, no code, no support ticket. You never have to start from a blank page, and you never have to hire anyone to get going.

Build your free site

Plans start at zero dollars. Yes, actually free.

The free plan is not a crippled trial with a countdown running on it. It is a real, complete, live website: hosted, secured, backed up, and yours to edit. Your free site lives at a yoursite.mainfolk.com address, with no ads on it. A genuine website for zero dollars.

How can I do that? Simple: I built it, and it is mine. I am not reselling someone else's platform and marking it up, so I do not have to charge you to cover a bill I do not have. That is the honest answer.

When you have built your site and you love it, upgrading is easy. Paid plans start at fifteen dollars a month and let you wire up your own domain name and unlock more. Do not have a domain yet? Buy one from us. We sell them close to cost, cheaper than GoDaddy and the rest, because charging you a markup on a domain was never the point of any of this.

And it tells you how it is doing.

Every Mainfolk site comes with private visitor analytics built in, free, and we email you a plain-English summary every week: how many people came by, what they looked at, where they found you. There are no dashboards to learn and nothing to set up. It just shows up in your inbox.

Just go try it.

I am not going to talk your ear off about the technology, and I am not going to make you sit through a sales call. If you run a shop, a trade, an office, a nonprofit, or a civic body, you have nothing to lose here. Go build a site for free, in a few minutes, with no credit card. If you love it, keep it. If you outgrow the free plan, upgrade for the price of a couple of coffees. And if you know someone who has been putting off getting a real website, send them this.
